FAQ

Is Emberville turn-based or action combat?
Action combat. Official material describes real-time fighting that rewards positioning and timing, with combos bound to your weapon.
What weapon styles does Emberville have?
Official plans list melee, magic and ranged combat styles. Individual weapon names are not yet public — this page documents them as soon as the demo does.
Do weapons matter to my class build?
Yes — combos are weapon-bound, and skills and weapons are improved through leveling, items, and rescued villagers, so your weapon choice shapes your [skill inheritance](/mechanics/skill-inheritance/) build.

The short answer

Emberville is real-time action combat. Official material describes fighting that rewards positioning and timing, with combos bound to your weapon that you can chain — across melee, magic and ranged style families. There is no turn-based layer and no auto-battle.

The four confirmed pillars

Pillar What official material says
Action fighting Real-time; positioning and timing are the skill expression
Weapon-bound combos Your weapon determines your combos; chains extend them
Class flexibility A combat class system with skill inheritance and free class switching
Progression Skills and weapons improve via leveling, items, and rescued villagers

The three style families

Official Early Access plans promise melee, magic and ranged combat:

  1. Melee — the front-line style; expect it to lean hardest on the timing-and-positioning rules, since you must be next to what is trying to hit you.
  2. Magic — the spell-casting family; how it is resourced (mana, cooldowns, or something kymia-flavored) is not yet public.
  3. Ranged — the keep-away family; pairing it with inheritable passives is the kind of hybrid the class system exists for.

Individual weapon names are not public yet. When the demo puts real weapons in players’ hands on October 19, the weapons database starts filling with tested entries — one weapon per page, sourced.

How combat connects to everything else

  • Classes are kits, not identities. You can change class at any time and inherit skills across classes — your build is a combo of learned kits, not one choice.
  • The town fights with you. Rescued villagers in rebuilt Emberville upgrade your skills and weapons.
  • Gear comes from the loop. Gathering and crafting professions turn materials from the Vitromotus into equipment.

Numbers come after October 19

Damage values, combo lists, and weapon stats are exactly the kind of data this site refuses to guess. The demo is the first public build — Early Access follows on October 27 — and tested numbers will carry a build tag and verified date on every page.
